Arsenal add Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle in £75m deal

Arsenal completed the signing of Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75 million on Saturday, adding a four-year deal and another senior option to Mikel Arteta’s title-winning squad. The 28-year-old was presented to fans at Emirates Stadium before Arsenal’s 3-2 preseason loss to Borussia Dortmund and was left out of the matchday squad. Arteta expects Guimaraes to strengthen a crowded midfield that already includes Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze. BBC reported he is likely to be involved against Como on Wednesday. Arteta also indicated Arsenal could make more signings before the season starts.
