Trump claims new US-Iran talks begin Monday afternoon

He said the agenda may include the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's denuclearization after he delayed a planned strike.

President Donald Trump said new negotiations with Iran will begin Monday afternoon, following Washington's decision to delay a planned strike on Tehran. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said the talks come after he spoke with Arab Saudi, Uni Emirat Arab, Qatar and Iran. He said those countries did not want a major attack. Trump also said the negotiating agenda could include the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's denuclearization. Earlier, on Truth Social, he said the strike was delayed after requests from Iran and several Middle Eastern countries, on the condition that a deal could be reached soon. Separately, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned Tehran would retaliate against any form of aggression from the US.
