Trump cancels planned U.S. military strike on Iran

Trump tied the reversal to prospects for swift talks, but warned the attack could proceed if no deal is reached.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he canceled a planned military strike on Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries asked for time to complete peace efforts. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote the decision was made to allow room for a deal that, he said, Israel had also agreed to delay in order to pursue. He stressed, however, that the cancellation depended on reaching an agreement quickly. Trump also warned that the United States remained ready to strike Iran with full military force if the process failed. Earlier reports by CBS News and Wall Street Journal, cited by Republika, said Washington and Israel had discussed operations against Iran's energy infrastructure, including the possibility of postponing a strike if there was direct diplomatic progress.
