Singapore shuts all ActiveSG outdoor sites as haze hits 227 PSI
What's new: Three regions reached the very unhealthy band Friday, while indoor air-conditioned sports facilities stayed open.
Singapore temporarily closed all outdoor and non-air-conditioned facilities at ActiveSG sport centres on Friday as haze worsened and 24-hour PSI readings climbed into the very unhealthy range in parts of the city-state. Sport Singapore said indoor and air-conditioned venues remained open. Central Singapore hit 227 at 9 a.m., the highest reading recorded this year, while the east and west also crossed 200 by late morning, according to Channel News Asia. Earlier closures had covered selected regions before being expanded islandwide. Other clubs and event organizers also pulled back outdoor activities, including SAFRA branches and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, which canceled its Oct. 17 run at Gardens by the Bay.
