Prabowo names 2 deputy defense ministers, splits duties
Richard Tampubolon will handle doctrine and force development, while Yusuf Jauhari focuses on weapons systems, industry and supply chains.
President Prabowo Subianto appointed Marsdya Yusuf Jauhari and Letjen Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon as deputy defense ministers at Istana Negara, Jakarta Pusat, on Thursday (15/10/2026). At the Ministry of Defense, Yusuf will oversee logistics, the defense industry and technology, while Richard will handle strategy, doctrine and force development. The ministry said Richard’s portfolio includes military doctrine development, the direction of national defense strategy and long-term planning for TNI force buildup. Yusuf will focus on modernizing alutsista, strengthening the self-reliance of the domestic defense industry, technology transfer and managing defense logistics supply chains. Both will work under Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
