Prabowo visits NTT, Jakarta LRT opening postponed
Prabowo arrived on day 11 after the M7.7 Flores quake and said relative safety is expected only in about three weeks.
The Jakarta provincial government has postponed the opening of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B on the Velodrome-Manggarai route, which had been scheduled to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (26/8/2026), after the president chose to visit Nusa Tenggara Timur to meet earthquake victims. DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency head Marulina Dewi said the opening would be rescheduled after a final review and completion of several facility details, without changing the development agenda for the line.
In Nagekeo, Prabowo said he deliberately did not come in the first days after the M7.7 earthquake in Flores so local governments and other agencies could focus on response efforts. At the evacuation post, he offered condolences and said the government was preparing aid, temporary housing and tent schools. He said a relatively safe condition was expected to be reached in about three weeks.
