Government prepares 1,000 homes for Flores quake victims
Separately, Yayasan Buddha Suci will build 500 more homes, while Maruarar Sirait contributed Rp5 miliar for additional housing.
The central government is preparing aid to build and repair 1,000 homes for residents affected by the earthquake in three regencies on Flores Island, Nusa Tenggara Timur: Manggarai, Manggarai Timur and Nagekeo. NTT Governor Melki Laka Lena said the support was agreed at an Aug. 20, 2026 meeting with the Minister of PKP, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, ATR/BPN Minister Nusron Wahid, and the three most affected local governments. The BSPS assistance will be used to build new houses and repair homes that can still be saved. Beyond the program, Yayasan Buddha Suci has committed to building 500 new homes. Maruarar Sirait also provided Rp5 miliar in personal aid to add to housing construction for affected residents.
