The Surabaya result was Port FC’s first official preseason match, with Bruno Moreira helping secure three points right away.
Port FC opened Piala Presiden 2026 with a 2-0 win over PSMS Medan in the Group B opener at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya on Sunday. Coach Sarawut Treephan called the result a positive start for his team in the preseason tournament and a boost of confidence heading into the new season. He also was not concerned by Ruan’s missed penalty, saying the newcomer still needs to build confidence. Sarawut said the coaching staff had already prepared a primary penalty taker, but still gave Ruan the chance. Bruno Moreira said three points from the first match were important, especially as he returned to GBT soon after leaving Indonesia.
