Persebaya beat Persija 1-0 on Pankov own goal
The win gave Persebaya three points to open Group B at the 2026 President's Cup, after Persija's stoppage-time equalizer was ruled offside.
Persebaya Surabaya beat Persija Jakarta 1-0 in a Group B match at the 2026 President's Cup at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya on Sunday night. The only goal came in the 64th minute from a Radovan Pankov own goal after his back pass was not handled by Aqil Savik. Persija responded through Gustavo Almeida, Kwong Chang-hoon and Denis Kolinger, but Ernando Ari repeatedly kept Persebaya's goal intact. Kolinger's header in the 90+5th minute briefly went in, but it was disallowed for offside. Persebaya coach Bernardo Tavares said his team's high pressing forced the mistake that led to the goal, while Persija coach Shin Tae-yong said the goal came from miscommunication and acknowledged his team had not yet fully worked through tactical training.
