Police disperse protesters at DPR after asset forfeiture bill pledge

DPR leaders pledged the bill would be completed by Dec. 15, 2026 at the latest, before protesters from Pati dispersed.

Protesters outside the DPR/MPR RI building in Jakarta began dispersing Thursday evening after police sprayed water from inside the complex at around 18.58 WIB. Since the afternoon, students from Universitas Terbuka, UNJ, Universitas BSI and other campuses had remained at the main gate, while other demonstrators gradually left. Members of Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu left first after receiving a written commitment from DPR RI leaders promising the drafting of the RUU Perampasan Aset would be completed no later than 15 Desember 2026. Police remained on standby in the Senayan area, and traffic around Jalan Gatot Subroto was managed situationally based on conditions on the ground.
