PDIP expels Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani after KPK case

PDIP expelled Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani from party membership after KPK named her a suspect in an alleged extortion case at the Sukoharjo district government. PDIP DPP Chairman Deddy Sitorus said the party standard for cadres caught in an OTT is immediate dismissal. DPP Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira added that a report from the Central Java DPD had been received and the party’s internal process was moving through the honor division. KPK had earlier upgraded the case to a formal investigation and named three suspects: Etik, Sukoharjo BPKAD Head Richard Tri Handoko, and Sukoharjo Setda General Affairs Head Tri Mulyo. According to KPK enforcement deputy Asep Guntur Rahayu, Etik allegedly asked Richard to collect about 40 percent of employee incentives within BPKAD.
