Health workers who mocked BPJS patient on Threads apologize

The apologies followed public outrage after news of Yurizal's death on July 31 renewed criticism of health worker ethics online.

Several health workers who had earlier made unsympathetic comments about BPJS Kesehatan patient Yurizal Tri Chaerawan on Threads have now issued public apologies. The wave of apologies came after an old post by Yurizal about not getting a hospital bed for eight hours resurfaced, then a relative said he died on July 31 2026, nine days after the post was made. One person singled out was doctor Beni Christian Sihombing from RSUD Ruteng, Manggarai, Nusa Tenggara Timur, who had written a remark referring to a “ruang jenazah.” After drawing criticism, he offered condolences to Yurizal's family, acknowledged that his post was inappropriate, and said he was ready to accept consequences from the hospital, IDI, MKEK, or legal proceedings.
