KRI dr. Soeharso treats 21 quake patients in Manggarai, NTT
The Navy hospital ship is operating 24 hours at Reo Port, with an operating room, ICU and 40 beds for the affected area.
KRI dr. Soeharso-990 was deployed to Manggarai, Nusa Tenggara Timur, to bolster health services after a magnitude 7.7 quake damaged medical facilities in the area. According to BNPB, the Indonesian Navy hospital ship arrived at Reo Port after sailing from Surabaya and had treated 21 patients by Saturday (22/8). Care included surgery for fractures, treatment for lacerations, outpatient services and hospitalization for three patients. The ship carries a joint medical team from the Indonesian Navy and the Health Ministry on 24-hour standby. Facilities on board include an emergency room, ICU, operating room, clinic, pharmacy, laboratory and two wards with 20 beds each. Its helicopter deck is also prepared for medical evacuation from remote areas.
