Gerindra denies Hotman linked Prabowo to Febrie case
The party asked that Prabowo Subianto’s name not be used in defending Febrie Adriansyah, who is now a suspect.
DPP Partai Gerindra rejected remarks by lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea that linked President Prabowo Subianto to the legal case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. DPP Gerindra chairman Bambang Haryadi said the accusation was not true and asked that the President’s name not be brought into his client’s defense. According to Bambang, Prabowo has repeatedly reminded the party not to shield cadres involved in corruption, and law enforcement is said to continue against officials and party members caught in cases. The dispute arose after Hotman, who has represented Febrie since 17 July, called his client a source of pride for Prabowo because he had recovered state losses worth hundreds of trillions of rupiah. At a news conference at the Jampidsus Building of the Attorney General’s Office, Hotman also said Febrie was being criminalized.
