France face Morocco; Deschamps unfazed by Argentine referee
The quarterfinal will be overseen by Facundo Tello and an all-Argentina officiating crew, drawing attention before kickoff.
France will face Morocco in the World Cup quarterfinal, with extra attention on the appointment of an Argentine officiating crew. Facundo Tello will referee the match, assisted by two assistants, a reserve assistant and a fourth official, all also from Argentina. France coach Didier Deschamps said his team must accept the appointment and focus on the opponent, not the referee. On the field, Deschamps called on France to be more efficient in converting chances. He said Morocco have strength in every line and are different from Paraguay, whom France eliminated 1-0 in the previous round. ANTARA also reported that the match is a rematch of the teams' 2022 semifinal meeting, when France won 2-0.
