BNPB channels foreign karhutla aid to equipment, technology
Japan and Singapore have offered assistance, while the government is still mapping needs so the support is targeted.
BNPB is directing foreign aid for forest and land fires to the procurement of equipment and technology Indonesia does not yet have. Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center at BNPB, Berton SP Panjaitan, said the government is still inventorying needs so support from partner countries is put to effective use.
So far, Japan and Singapore have offered assistance. On the ground, karhutla response remains concentrated in six priority provinces: Sumatera Selatan, Jambi, Kalimantan Tengah, Kalimantan Selatan, Kalimantan Barat, and Riau, which were reported to be clear. BNPB has also deployed operations in Kalimantan Timur, the IKN area, Way Kambas, Karanganyar, Gunung Sumbing, and Papua, with around 70 thousand joint personnel on standby.
