After the Hajj peak, Indonesian pilgrims shop for souvenirs in Kakiyah
The wholesale market about 8 km from Masjidil Haram has more than 200 shops, with prices starting at 2 Saudi riyal.
Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are using their free time after the main rituals to buy souvenirs at Pasar Kakiyah in Makkah before returning home to Tanah Air. The market on Jalan Ibrahim al-Khalil, about eight kilometers from Masjidil Haram, is often called “Tanah Abang-nya Makkah”. A pilgrim from Surabaya, Suparman, came with his group to buy gamis, key chains, prayer beads and chocolate. He learned about the market from a fellow pilgrim in KBIHU. Sûq al-Ka’kiyah lil Jumlah has more than 200 shops selling abaya, gamis, dates, peci, serban, prayer mats, perfume and miniatur Ka'bah. Prices at the three-story market range from 2 to 100 Saudi riyal, and some goods are imported from outside Arab Saudi, including China and Bangladesh.
