Trump presses Netanyahu, Israel agrees to halt Iran strikes

Israel still refuses to stop strikes in Lebanon, while Iran leaves open the possibility of continued talks with the U.S.

President Donald Trump called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu again within less than 24 hours and urged him to stop strikes on Iran. Two Israeli officials cited by CNN said Israel then agreed to halt attacks on Iran. But Tel Aviv remained determined to continue operations in Lebanon. Iran later said it would stop attacks on Israel, but threatened to strike again if Israel kept bombing Lebanon. At the same time, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran was still willing to negotiate with Washington. Earlier, Trump also urged Iran to stop launching missiles and return to the negotiating table, claiming a U.S.-Iran deal was nearly reached before the latest barrage of ballistic missiles was fired at Israel.
