Houthi fire at Israel, threaten Israeli ships in Red Sea

No deaths were reported from the Yemen-launched missile, but Houthi also imposed a full ban on Israeli shipping in the Red Sea.

Houthi fighters in Yemen fired a missile at Israel on Monday (8/6) and expanded their threat to the sea by declaring Israeli ships banned from passing through the Red Sea. The Israel military said its air defense system was operating to intercept the missile launched from Yemen. Warning sirens sounded in central Israel, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Modiin. According to Times of Israel and the Magen David Adom ambulance service, there were no fatalities, although one man was injured while running to a shelter. The Houthi attack came after Israel struck military targets in Iran, following a wave of Iranian missiles into Israel on Sunday night. Houthi earlier said it supported Iran’s operation and that the “axis of resistance” remained in coordination over regional developments.
