Trial in Yaqut hajj quota corruption case set for August 11

KPK has charged four defendants in the case, with state losses from the BPK audit estimated at Rp622 miliar.

The Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court has scheduled the first hearing in the alleged corruption case involving the 2023-2024 additional hajj quota for Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The main defendant is former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, along with his former special staff member Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex, Maktour Operations Director Ismail Adham, and Asrul Aziz Taba. The reading of the indictment will be presided over by chief judge Ni Kadek Susantiani, with Adek Nurhadi and Sigit Herman Binaji as panel members. KPK has investigated the case since August 9, 2025 and submitted the file to prosecutors on July 14, 2026. Based on the BPK audit, the additional hajj quota case is suspected of causing Rp622 miliar in state losses.
