Prabowo calls for revoking corporate fire permits in Riau

President Prabowo Subianto ordered the revocation of corporate permits linked to forest and land fires during a meeting on wildfire response in Riau on Monday (24/8). He urged law enforcement to act firmly if there are indications a company ordered the burning of forests or land. In a meeting at Posko AJU in Pekanbaru, Prabowo also asked police, prosecutors and intelligence officials to investigate alleged corporate involvement. He said the government would show no favoritism. Prabowo also directed residents who need to clear land to report to the village head, district head or regent, then receive government assistance through farmer groups, KUR and cooperatives. National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo said several corporate cases are now proceeding as civil matters in court and will be reported further if investigators find a burning scheme or negligence involving required equipment.
