Prabowo heads to Kalbar to lead wildfire response, aerial patrols begin
BPBD Kalbar says 38,310.86 hectares have burned since January, with Ketapang the hardest hit area.
President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Supadio International Airport in Kubu Raya on Saturday at around 10:50 WIB to directly lead efforts to handle forest and land fires in West Kalimantan. From Lanud Supadio, he took an aerial patrol by helicopter to monitor fire hotspots. A day earlier, Prabowo assigned the TNI and Polri to operations in four affected provinces in Kalimantan: West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan. In West Kalimantan, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo accompanied him. BPBD Kalbar data show the wildfire area in the province reached 38,310.86 hectares during January-August 2026. Ketapang Regency recorded the largest area at 12,443 hectares, followed by Kubu Raya at 8,614 hectares, Mempawah at 6,144 hectares and Sambas at 2,318 hectares.
