Polri opens disability recruitment path after Polri law revision
Recruitment remains focused on physical and sensory disabilities, while access to structural posts will be opened gradually.
Polri is preparing a recruitment path for people with disabilities after the Polri Law revision was approved in a plenary session of the DPR. Karodalpers SSDM Polri Brigjen Erthel Stephan said recruitment adjustments have been under way since 2016, covering regulations, organizational needs, and matching applicants’ competencies with available positions. At present, admissions are focused on people with physical and sensory disabilities, including motor and sensory impairments. For mental and intellectual disabilities, Polri is still preparing studies and placement classifications. So far, disability personnel have mostly filled functional posts, but opportunities for structural positions will be opened gradually in line with improvements in competence and managerial capacity. Komnas Disabilitas and Komnas Perempuan said the step could broaden access to jobs and encourage more inclusive security-sector reform.
