Jokowi diploma case passes 400 days as complainants claim P21
Complainants blame witness requests, independent forensic tests and restorative justice bids by three suspects for the delay.
The alleged defamation case involving the diploma of Indonesia's seventh president, Joko Widodo, has been running for more than 400 days and has not reached trial. Militan Gibran Nusantara Chairman Andi Azwan said the case file was actually complete, or P21, and denied claims that the complainants were deliberately slowing the process. He said investigators at Polda Metro Jaya had to accommodate requests from the suspects, including independent forensic laboratory testing and expert witnesses submitted in stages. Andi also said restorative justice petitions by Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis and Rismon Sianipar required the investigation report to be rewritten. On the other side, Roy Suryo's lawyer Abdul Gafur Sangadji questioned the P21 claim, saying there had been no public confirmation from police or the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.
