Israel minister urges killing 30-40 Gaza residents nightly
New: Itamar Ben Gvir also pushes mass Palestinian displacement and rebuilding Israel settlements in Gaza.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has called for targeted killings of 30 to 40 people in the Gaza Strip each night, amid reports that Israel is starting to scale back the intensity of its military operations. In a podcast conversation with former hostage Rom Braslavski, Ben Gvir openly rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach, which he said was limiting attacks. He said targets did not need to be limited to people posing an immediate threat. Ben Gvir has no authority to order the military, but he sits on Israel's security cabinet and controls the national police and prison system. In the same interview, he also called for the mass relocation of Palestinians from Gaza and the rebuilding of Israel settlements in the territory, as ceasefire talks and postwar plans continue.
