Iran offers Saudi-Yemen mediation after Houthi attack on Riyadh

The proposal came after the strike on King Khalid Airport killed 12 people and injured 309 others.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi phoned Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and offered Tehran's help to facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The call on Sunday (11/10) came as regional tensions rose after a Houthi attack on the passenger terminal of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Saudi authorities said the attack on Saturday (10/10) killed 12 people and injured 309 others. During the talks, Araghchi urged a political settlement and warned that a military approach would only worsen the crisis. Relations between Riyadh and Tehran have come under renewed strain since the U.S.-Israel war against Iran broke out in late February 2026, although diplomatic ties between the two countries remain in place.
