Iran attack cripples Kuwait airport, Bahrain sounds sirens
Kuwait diverted flights to alternate airports as its military intercepted missiles and drones heading toward the country.
Iranian drone and missile strikes hit the passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday (3/6), injuring several people and causing heavy damage to the T1 building. The General Civil Aviation Authority later suspended air traffic and diverted flights to alternate airports. Kuwait Defense Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said the attack caused injuries and property damage, but gave no casualty count. In a related development, Kuwait's military said on Saturday that air defense systems intercepted hostile missiles and drones. Bahrain also sounded sirens and urged residents to move immediately to the nearest safe place. Tensions have risen since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran in late February, prompting Tehran to respond with attacks on regional targets.
