Iran attack on Kuwait kills 1, injures 60 others

Kuwait International Airport briefly halted flights, while the U.S. and Bahrain intercepted other missiles amid wider regional escalation.

Iran missile and drone strikes on Kuwait on Wednesday (3/6) killed one person and injured more than 60 people, while damaging critical facilities, including an area at Kuwait International Airport. Civil aviation authorities temporarily suspended airport operations and diverted flights to alternate airports while activating an emergency response plan. Kuwait's Foreign Ministry blamed Iran for the attack, which was also said to have damaged diplomatic offices. Earlier, Kuwait's military reported that drones heading toward its territory were intercepted by air defenses. Iran said the strikes targeted U.S. military facilities in Kuwait in retaliation for attacks on an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. strikes on Qeshm Island. CENTCOM said two missiles aimed at Kuwait missed their targets, while three other missiles toward Bahrain were intercepted.
