ICE readies arrests as 300,000 Haitians near loss of TPS
What's next: Federal sources told Fox News the operation could start this week, with Springfield, Ohio, expected to be a major focus.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is preparing a broader enforcement operation to locate and arrest Haitian nationals who are expected to lose Temporary Protected Status after a Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for the Trump administration to end the program. Fox News reported, citing multiple federal sources, that the operation could begin as soon as this week and may heavily target Ohio because Springfield has a large Haitian population. The court last month reversed lower-court judgments that had delayed TPS terminations for Haiti and Syria during litigation. TPS for Haitians was first granted after Haiti's 2010 earthquake and lets eligible migrants live and work legally in the United States for a limited period.
