Gaikindo: Automotive industry ready for B50 biodiesel
B50 road tests are running smoothly, while Indonesia is also pitching auto parts exports to the Eurasian market.
Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia (Gaikindo) said the national automotive industry is ready to use B50 biodiesel, which will become mandatory in July 2026. Gaikindo Chairman Putu Juli Ardika said B50 road tests are running smoothly and have produced good results, supported by a manufacturing ecosystem that is growing stronger. He said that readiness aligns with the competitiveness of vehicles made in Indonesia, which are already exported to various countries. At the INNOPROM 2026 exhibition in Ekaterinburg, Russia, on 6-9 July, Indonesia is also offering cooperation to supply automotive components to support industry and after-sales services in the Eurasian region. Putu said differences in specifications, including steering position, are not an obstacle because the national industry is used to adjusting to the needs of destination markets.
