Two people were detained, and a warehouse in Kelapa Dua is suspected of operating for about two years.
BPOM seized more than 2 million illegal imported cosmetic products worth Rp27,6 miliar from two warehouses in Kelapa Dua District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Friday (5/6). The haul totaled 2.082.039 products from 956 types, dominated by decorative cosmetics or makeup from China. The case was uncovered after BPOM cyber patrols found cosmetics being sold without distribution permits on e-commerce platforms and traced them to storage sites on Jalan Diklat Pemda, Bojong Nangka. BPOM also detained two people suspected of acting as the importer and marketer through online shops. According to BPOM head Taruna Ikrar, the products entered without complete import documents, were suspected of arriving through unofficial channels, and the warehouse had been operating for about two years. The suspects are alleged to have violated Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health.
