BGN prioritizes local food for MBG, with Bulog as backup
Bulog's premium rice will be used only when regional supplies fall short or prices near SPPG face an upside risk.
The National Nutrition Agency is prioritizing local food ingredients in the Free Nutritious Meals Program and positioning Perum Bulog as a buffer if rice supplies in a region prove insufficient. BGN head Sudaryono said Bulog's proposal to supply premium rice was received positively, but it will not replace local farmers, local traders and UMKM in the program's supply chain. He said the scheme is intended to ensure economic activity around Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi continues to benefit local areas. Bulog will step in if supplies are limited or if prices face the risk of turbulence because of rising demand. Sudaryono also said the rice offered by Bulog is premium rice, not SPHP rice.
