Bea Cukai Jakarta destroys 12.9 million illegal cigarettes
The action curbed a potential state loss of Rp11.81 billion, while some cases were settled through ultimum remedium, yielding Rp1.09 billion.
The Jakarta Customs and Excise Regional Office destroyed Rp20.18 billion worth of illegal excisable goods seized in enforcement actions carried out from 2025 through July 2026. The destroyed items included 12,979,847 illegal cigarettes, 28,263.7 grams of tobacco products, and 1,506 bottles of ethyl alcohol beverages, or 901.93 liters. All were classified as state-owned goods after 99 rulings. Hendri Darnadi, head of the Jakarta Customs and Excise Regional Office, said the enforcement was conducted through Operasi Asap and Operasi Macan Kemayoran together with the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office, the Jayakarta Military Police Command, Satpol PP DKI Jakarta, and DJKN Kementerian Keuangan. In addition to the destruction, some cases were resolved through ultimum remedium, generating Rp1.09 billion in state revenue.
