Indonesia sends envoy to Tehran for Ali Khamenei tribute
Iran expects delegations from about 30 countries, with no representatives from the United States or Western nations invited.
The Indonesian government assigned Indonesia's ambassador to Iran and Turkmenistan, Rolliansyah Soemirat, to represent Indonesia at the final tribute for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at Grand Mosalla, Tehran, on Saturday (4/7). The Foreign Ministry said Rolliansyah was already present at a joint prayer event for Khamenei's remains.
Iran had earlier informed the diplomatic corps on July 2 that the official tribute series would be attended by senior officials from a range of countries. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, at least eight heads of government or state and parliamentary leaders from 12 countries will attend, while delegations from around 30 countries are expected. There are no representatives from the United States or European countries that were formally invited. The ceremony continues in Qom on July 7 and the burial is scheduled in Mashhad on July 9.
