Wounded Oregon teacher recounts Silver Rail shooting as probe widens
What's new: Police said the shotgun was bought legally and investigators are searching the teen gunman's home, devices and social media.
A teacher wounded in last week's shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon, said she was shot at close range as she tried to shut a classroom door and then pretended to be dead to survive. In a statement released Wednesday, Becky Drury said she ran back into the special education classroom after spotting the shooter, but he reached the door before she could secure it. Three children, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher were killed in the Oct. 15 attack. Another student was critically injured. Police Chief Mike Krantz told the city council the pump-action shotgun used in the attack was purchased legally, though investigators are still working to determine how the 16-year-old former student obtained it.
