Wong puts living costs and jobs at center of Singapore agenda

What's new: Wong told about 3,000 PAP activists more measures are coming for singles, seniors and workers under strain.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong put living costs, jobs and support from education through retirement at the center of Singapore’s policy agenda for the rest of the government’s term. Speaking to about 3,000 People’s Action Party activists at a party conference at Singapore Expo on Oct. 25, Wong said more help was coming, including for groups who felt left out of earlier family-focused measures, such as singles and seniors. He also said the government would support Singaporeans facing setbacks in life. Wong framed the push as part of delivering on the PAP’s 2025 election mandate, when it won 65.57% of the vote, while warning that not all workers are benefiting equally even as Singapore remains attractive to investors, semiconductor firms and AI companies including OpenAI and Anthropic.
