White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt to exit by month’s end

What’s next: Trump said Leavitt will move into an outside advisory role as Republicans prepare for the midterm elections.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her job at the end of August, President Donald Trump said Tuesday, ending a tenure that made her the youngest person appointed to the role. Leavitt said on X that serving as press secretary for the past year and a half had been “the honour and adventure of a lifetime” and that she was stepping away to spend more time with her family. Trump wrote on Truth Social that Leavitt would become one of his top outside advisers and an influential Republican voice as the party works toward the midterm elections. Leavitt joined Trump’s 2024 campaign and later served as transition spokeswoman before taking the White House post.
