West Ham fire Nuno after slide to eighth in the Championship
What's next: Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will lead the team at Cardiff as West Ham searches for a new coach.
West Ham United fired head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after a poor start to the Championship season left the club eighth in the table, six points behind leader Middlesbrough. Nuno, 52, took charge in September 2025 and oversaw West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last season. The team had been expected to push for automatic promotion but won only two of its last six matches and lost consecutive home games to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa also left. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge for Wednesday's trip to Cardiff City while the club recruits a replacement.
