West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen stays after relegation to Championship
Why it matters: Bowen turned down transfer speculation and gives West Ham a major boost in its push to return to the Premier League.
Jarrod Bowen will remain at West Ham as the club begins life in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League. The 29-year-old forward, who has been linked with several top-flight clubs, said he wants to help lead West Ham back up rather than leave this summer. Bowen traveled to Prague for talks with club director Daniel Kretinsky and board member Jiri Svarc before deciding to stay. He joined from Hull City in 2020 and has scored 85 goals in 280 appearances, including the winner against Fiorentina in the 2023 Europa Conference League final. Bowen is under contract until 2030, though he has not signed an extension.
