Vietnam arrests 65, including 4 Singaporeans, in drug-vape ring
What's new: Police named a Singaporean and a Malaysian as alleged ringleaders and seized 1,331 vape cartridges plus etomidate liquid.
Vietnamese police arrested 65 people, including 10 foreign nationals, after uncovering a trafficking network accused of filling e-cigarette pods with etomidate-laced liquid and selling them in Ho Chi Minh City. Authorities said the suspects included four Singaporeans, four Malaysians and two Taiwanese. Police identified Singaporean Melvin Tan Junjie, 30, and Malaysian Hoo Jia How, 30, as alleged ringleaders. Officers said they began investigating in early July, then raided a rented house in Cau Ong Lanh and seized 1,331 cartridges and 140 ml of etomidate-infused liquid. Another Singaporean, Oh Jang Fong, was later arrested and accused of supplying the liquid. Vietnam classified etomidate as a narcotic earlier this year.
