Venezuela buries unidentified quake victims in mass grave
Officials put the death toll at at least 3,342 and the injured at 16,740, while evacuations continue in several areas.
Venezuelan authorities held a mass burial for unidentified earthquake victims at La Esperanza Cemetery in La Guaira on Monday (6/7). Heavy equipment was brought in to dig a row of graves in the area described as the hardest hit since the quake struck the country on 24 June. The Venezuelan government reported at least 3,342 people dead and 16,740 others injured. To date, joint international teams are still continuing evacuations at several locations. In Jakarta, Gereja Katedral also held a Misa Arwah for the victims on Wednesday (8/7), attended by Venezuela's Ambassador to Indonesia Enrique Antonio Acuna Mendoza.
