US-Saudi strikes in Iraq kill 20 after Iran hits base in Jordan

What's new: Iran also said its naval forces struck three tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, deepening risks to regional shipping and oil flows.

US and Saudi strikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq killed at least 20 Popular Mobilisation Forces members and wounded 32 more, according to the PMF, after Iran fired missiles at US forces in Jordan in what Centcom called an attempted surprise attack. Centcom said all the missiles were intercepted and that the joint strikes hit logistics and weapons sites across eastern Iraq in response to more than 30 drone attacks in the past 72 hours. Saudi Arabia said militias launched drones from Iraq at oil facilities in its Eastern and Riyadh regions. The IRGC said it targeted a US air base and command center in Jordan and struck three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
