US keeps Mauricio Pochettino as coach through the 2030 World Cup

What's new: The deal expands his job beyond the men’s team to youth development, coaching education and league collaboration.

Mauricio Pochettino agreed to a four-year contract extension that keeps him in charge of the U.S. men’s national team through the 2030 World Cup. The former Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea manager took over in late 2024 and guided the Americans to the round of 16 at the 2026 tournament, where Belgium ended their run. U.S. Soccer said the new deal also widens the responsibilities of Pochettino and his staff, giving them a role in the national team pipeline, youth soccer, coaching education and collaboration with professional leagues. Pochettino said the World Cup strengthened his belief that the sport can grow further in the United States.
