US, Iran form 4 working groups after Swiss talks
Both sides are aiming for a final deal within 60 days on nuclear issues, sanctions, reconstruction and implementation.
Technical negotiations between the United States and Iran in Switzerland ended with plans to form four working groups to discuss lifting sanctions, nuclear issues, reconstruction and economic development, and monitoring and implementation. Iranian state media IRNA quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on Tuesday (23/6) as saying the follow-up talks were part of a process after the two countries signed a peace memorandum. Qatar and Pakistan, which acted as mediators, also said Washington and Tehran had agreed on a roadmap toward a final deal in 60 days. According to a joint statement released by the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides also opened a communication channel to help ensure commercial vessels can pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz and to prepare a mechanism to end fighting in Lebanon.
