Ukraine says US held up Patriot missiles for nearly a month

What's new: Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the delay covers Patriot and NASAMS interceptors as Russia intensifies strikes before winter.

Ukraine has waited almost a month for the United States to approve missile deliveries for Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Monday, as Russian attacks on energy sites and civilian infrastructure intensify. Zelenskiy said he had ordered his team to press Washington again over the hold-up. The missiles are supplied by the US through a program under which NATO allies buy interceptors for Ukraine. Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that a batch of interceptors may not have arrived, while saying the delay was not political. The lag adds to strains in US-Ukraine ties after President Donald Trump struck a diesel deal with Russia and criticized Kyiv over attacks on Russian refineries.
