Ukraine says Starlink limits persist, disrupting drone missions

Why it matters: Officials say drones flying above 100 mph lose connection, blunting strikes on Russian logistics.

Ukraine said Friday that restrictions on SpaceX's Starlink and Starshield services are still hampering battlefield communications, despite recent signals from President Donald Trump that service had been restored. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote that "the speed has not been restored," while defense tech adviser Serhii Beskrestnov and Deputy Ambassador Denys Sienik said nothing had changed. Ukrainian officials have complained since Oct. 14 that speed caps cut off some drones traveling above 100 mph. Dmitri Alperovitch, chairman of the Silverado Policy Accelerator, said the limits are causing Ukraine to lose drones and reducing its ability to hit Russian logistics.
