Ukraine defence minister quits in Zelensky’s Cabinet shake-up

What’s next: Ukrainian media reported Interior Minister Igor Klymenko could take over as Kyiv pushes army reforms and drone production.

Ukraine’s defence minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, resigned on July 15 as President Volodymyr Zelensky pressed ahead with a broader Cabinet overhaul during the war with Russia. Fedorov, who took the post in January at age 35, said on Telegram it had been an honor to serve and pointed to expanded drone production and battlefield use, along with sweeping army reforms. His exit followed parliament’s July 14 approval of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko’s resignation after about a year in office. Fedorov was an early backer of drones in the war and also helped secure Starlink satellite connectivity for Ukrainian troops while limiting Russian access, according to the report. Ukrainian media have named Interior Minister Igor Klymenko as a possible successor.
