U.S. grants Flávio Bolsonaro visas as reports place him leaving Brazil
What's new: The move came after Brazil's Supreme Court ordered him to surrender his passports within 24 hours.
The United States will issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family as Brazilian media reported the defeated presidential candidate had left Brazil after losing Sunday's election to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro's whereabouts had not been independently confirmed by Tuesday, and his campaign manager and lawyer said they did not know where he was. The visa decision landed as Brazil's Supreme Court had ordered Bolsonaro to hand over his regular and diplomatic passports within 24 hours and barred him from leaving the country. Bolsonaro has refused to concede after losing by more than 4 million votes and has raised baseless fraud claims. He is also under investigation in Brazil over allegations including money laundering, tax evasion and corruption, which he denies.
