Two plant outages trigger rolling blackouts in Java

Rolling blackouts hit several areas on Friday (19/6/2026) after two major generating units experienced disruptions and reduced the Java grid's supply capacity. PT PLN (Persero) said the Java electricity system was still operating and under control, but the company applied limited and measured load management to keep supply and demand balanced. Outage reports came from Tangerang Selatan, Depok and the University of Indonesia area. Several residents said the power went out from morning to midday for about two to three hours, while in some locations service had not yet been restored by evening. Executive Vice President Komunikasi Korporat dan TJSL PLN Gregorius Adi Trianto said PLN was speeding up restoration, maximizing supply from other plants and would phase out load management as system conditions improved.
