Turkey seeks Interpol notice for Netanyahu over Gaza flotilla case

What's next: Interpol will review Ankara's request, which follows Turkish arrest warrants tied to a May aid flotilla interception.

Turkey is moving to seek an Interpol red notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a domestic criminal case tied to the interception of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said Turkey's justice ministry asked the interior ministry to pursue red notices after Turkish courts issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and another suspect. The case involves 35 people and charges including genocide, crimes against humanity and torture linked to Israel's May interception of vessels from the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. A red notice asks police worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a suspect pending extradition, but Interpol must first review the request. Netanyahu's office dismissed the move as an attempt by President Tayyip Erdogan to intimidate Israel's leaders and soldiers.
